Pre-conference Workshops, to be held on Sunday, March 22, 2020, are intended to offer a space for conference attendees to engage with experts on important issues and questions related to research, policy, and practice in comparative and international education. Capacity is limited and registration is required. The registration fee for pre-conference workshops is $50 USD for the entire day; attendees can participate in two separate 3-hour workshops (Morning & Afternoon Sessions) or one extended 6-hour workshop (Whole-Day Session). Printed Program Book
As CIES is committed to making our conference as sustainable as possible, we will offer free digital (PDF) versions of our conference program via our conference website and official mobile app. Alternatively, a complete CIES 2020 Miami program book (250-300 pages) is available for purchase in printed form at a cost of $25 USD.
CIES is committed to supporting its scholarly community and in particular aims to promote inclusion of its members from diverse cultures and career stages. You can help an early career scholar and/or scholar from a Low Income Country to attend the conference by sponsoring a conference registration fee, which will be administered by the CIES New Scholars Committee to qualified persons in need. Donations in any amount are welcome, and all charitable gifts are tax deductible.
Each conference registrant will be allowed one “guest” to gain access to CIES 2020 Miami and its associated venues for a fee of $95. This type of registration is designed for the spouse, partner, or family members of the registrant. Guests may visit the exhibit hall and attend the session(s) in which the registrant is presenting. Guest registration is not applicable for professionals in the field of comparative and international education (including students), who are attending sessions or presenting papers. Guest registration must be completed on-site in conjunction with non-guest registration of another conference attendee. Only one guest is allowed per registrant.
Collaboration with external organizations and institutions furthers the mission of CIES in advancing the field of comparative and international education — and creates more meaningful experiences for our conference participants. With an extensive network of education scholars and stakeholders, CIES welcomes sponsors, exhibitors, and advertisers to engage with its global audience. CIES 2020 Miami will also mark the introduction of formalized opportunities for Sustaining Partnerships. More information will be made available soon.

CIES 2020 Miami participants may request official visa invitation letters to help facilitate their travel to the United States. Visa invitation letters guarantee that participation in CIES 2020 Miami is unpaid. When applying for visas, conference participants must have adequate funds in their possession, as well as confirmed accommodations and return transportation.
In order to be eligible for a personalized visa letter, you must first confirm your participation in CIES 2020 Miami by either (a) registering for the conference AND paying registration fees in full; or (b) receiving acceptance notification for a proposal that identifies you as a presenter (decisions on proposal submissions will be made in December 2019). In an effort to reduce the conference’s carbon footprint, we will not be printing participation certificates for CIES 2020. We understand that such documentation may be used by your institution as evidence of your participation in order to justify reimbursement of expenses. As our participation certificates verify your registration and attendance at CIES 2020 Miami, you must request your participation certification in person at registration in order to be sent a digital participation certificate in PDF format. Unlike acceptance notifications distributed via the All Academic online proposal system, participation certificates do not contain any specific information about presentations as part of the conference program.
In an effort to facilitate the participation of CIES members with children, CIES 2020 Miami welcomes participants to bring academically-minded accompanying children to sessions and conference events. We are also able to offer subsidized on-site childcare, to be managed by a nationally-recognized and fully accredited childcare provider offering high-quality activities for children ranging in age from infants to pre-teens. There will be a flat registration fee per child and an additional subsidized rate per hour. More information is available here.
