The Bloomsbury Handbook of Global Education and Learning

Learning about global issues and themes has become an increasingly recognised element of education in many countries around the world. Terms such as global learning, global citizenship and global education can be seen within national education policies and international initiatives led by the UN, UNESCO, European Commission and OECD. Edited by Professor Douglas Bourn (UCL Institute of Education), the Bloomsbury Handbook of Global Education and Learning brings together the main elements of the debates, provides analysis of policies, and suggests new directions for research in these areas. Written by internationally renowned scholars from Brazil, Canada, Finland, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Pakistan, Poland, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Taiwan, UK and the USA, the handbook offers a much needed resource for academics, researchers, policy-makers and practitioners who need a clear picture of global learning. Find out more in this video of the book launch in March:

Douglas Bourn is Professor of Development Education and Co-Director of the Development Education Research Centre at University College London’s Institute of Education. He is author of The Theory and Practice of Development Education (2015), editor of Development Education: Debates and Dialogues (2008), and was previously (2008-2015) the editor of the International Journal of Development Education and Global Learning.

  32. Appreciate the share, Sophie. Hope you found another bus, and I hope this comment of mine finds you doing well!
Thank you for committing to read the entire post even though English isn’t your first language. Congrats on getting your new blog off the ground! Do you have a name picked out yet? What niche will it be in?

  33. Oh wow… Did you really miss your bus stop? I feel bad, but I’m also flattered!
I am starting a blog and will try to be really engaged in the process of serious webmarketing. Before I was doing SEO, but it appeared to me that backlinks funny easy hacks have now less value than a deep and real network that read and share your content.

  34. I missed my bus stop because of reading this… :p It’s the first article I read of your blog, and despite I am french and find it a little tiring and difficult for me to read in english, I must say that it absolutely catched me!!
Appreciate the kind words, Richard. Hope you are having a great Thursday!
